Protests Erupt in Uttar Pradesh After Reports of Death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei; High Alert Issued

Following reports of the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in an alleged attack involving the United States and Israel, protests have erupted across parts of Uttar Pradesh, India. The state administration has issued a high alert to prevent any untoward incidents.

Emergency Meeting by CM

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held an emergency meeting with senior officials on Sunday morning and directed them to maintain strict law and order across sensitive districts.

 DGP Statement

Director General of Police Rajeev Krishna stated that heightened security measures have been implemented in districts with significant Shia populations, including Lucknow, Jaunpur, Azamgarh, Ghazipur, Muzaffarnagar, and Meerut. Authorities are also closely monitoring social media platforms.

 Massive Gathering in Lucknow

In Lucknow, thousands of members of the Shia community gathered on the streets. Men and women were seen mourning, chanting slogans such as “Khamenei Zindabad” and “Down with America and Israel.” Heavy police deployment has been ensured to maintain peace.

A woman protester emotionally stated:“He was like a father figure to us. This is an irreparable loss for our community.”

Appeal for Peace

The administration has urged citizens to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information. Strict action will be taken against those attempting to disturb communal harmony.
